The Murrow Interview

A Conversation with Craig Duff

A Conversation with Craig Duff

The convergence of print, broadcasting and the Internet has changed the way journalists report and present the news. Nowhere is this more true than in the Middle East, where mainstream news organizations combine original reporting with information and video sourced from digital activists and ordinary citizens carrying out the functions of journalists.

Craig Duff has been at the cutting edge of this reporting revolution, helping The New York Times make the transition to digital and more recently as head of multimedia and chief video journalist at Time.com, where he supervised the website’s coverage of the Arab Spring. In early 2012, he joined the faculty at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Craig Duff is an award-winning video journalist and documentary television director, producer and writer. He specializes in multi-platform storytelling and explanatory journalism.

This interview was recorded in April 2012 in front of a live audience of high school journalism students at the national conference of the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association in Seattle.
